A Year of Daily Journaling Prompts for Every Season of Momlife

There are a lot of things that can happen in a year! As a SAHM I enjoy seeing my kids grow day to day but when I observe the differences over a few months or a year, I really see what progress looks like. Ok, it becomes a little slower once they are 7 or 8 but it continues and I love being there for every changing moment. I want you to enjoy it too with these 365 daily journaling prompts for all the seasons of the year.

And when I say seasons, I’m not only talking about the weather, but the stages of life that we pass through. So these daily journal ideas will include various topics, emotions, and situations.

What are good daily journal prompts?

Good daily journal prompts are those that spark in your imagination something interesting that you would like to record or express about yourself or others.  Good prompts would include anything that’s interesting to you at your season of life.  This includes topics like media, hobbies, emotions and values.

What happens when you journal every day?

Taking these daily journaling prompts for adults and turning them into your daily habit will be amazing for you. Journaling daily causes you to stop and observe what’s going on in your day-to-day life. Not only will it include your writing skills (writing is a form of art), but it will lower your stress levels significantly.

When you journal daily you will find that you feel better about life in general and you can problem-solve quicker.

Should I journal in the morning or at night?

Journaling in the morning or at night is a long-time debate. The answer is, it doesn’t matter.  Mornings are hectic, especially as an adult. However, nighttime journaling is a battle to stay awake. I love morning journaling, however, if I’m honest, most of these years of journaling have come either mid-day or at night. Experiment and find which works best for you!

How many minutes a day should I journal?

Again, this depends on you. I love the 5-minute journal ideas out there. If you have a free afternoon, try out longer journaling times. When I do my morning journal it’s approximately 15-20 minutes.  At night I might write for up to an hour.

Should you reread your journal entries?

Many people will tell you no, however, I believe as a mom it’s a great practice to occasionally spend time reading instead of writing. You will see how you’ve grown, how things have changed and remember things that you had forgotten.  There is a powerful experience from writing a journal but don’t let the benefits of rereading your entries slip away. You can take these daily journaling prompts as a reminder to return to your older entries.

What is an example of a journal entry?

Having journal prompts really doesn’t help if you don’t really know how to write a journal entry.  Here is an example journal entry.

example journal entry from my on journal. the entry talks about why I started this blog and who it is for.
This is an entry I made about this very blog! As you see, I didn’t add Dear or Hi, but you can. Dear Journal, Dear Diary.

If you would like a how-to guide, including different ways to start an entry, what to do with writer’s block (when you don’t know what to write) and more, visit my guide on how to start journaling.

How do you make a daily journal interesting?

There are tons of journaling ideas to make daily writing interesting.  These daily journaling prompts will certainly keep you discovering something new each day.  As we already mentioned, you can choose to journal in the morning or at night and alternate. You can also spice things up with cool journaling printables.

You may find that you don’t need anything additional from just the writing because every day is different and you’ll have different things you want to express.  However, if not, I also have some unique ideas for filling your journals.
